It's crazy that I'm putting snow conditions for this post, but they are relevant.
Tonight was my Unofficial GNAR interview. Nothing is going to go my way today. Lame! I guess I'll chalk it up as another learning experience... I'm having a lot of these lately; I don't know that that is a good thing :( .
I started work today at 6, so I was up at 4.30. Left work at 5.45, and got my do did, then raced up to Squaw to get to the interview. As I started on 80W it started to snow... I'm late so fuck it; cruise control at 75mph. As the "Snow" started to stick the roads became more and more greasy. About 5 miles before the check station I learned that cruise control is not the best idea in 2wd with greasy snow on the ground. I entered a turn and the truck started to skid and slow down, the cruise control kicked in and floored it... Needless to say this was "Exciting."
After about 45mins I got to Squaw and started sniffing out the Unofficial HQ (took me about another hour). TOTALLY not what I expected. It's a multi-million dollar house at the base of Squaw! I expected an apartment or something like that... It blew me away.
When I entered I was put into the garage (Heated!) which was a make-shift holding cell for the intervewees. It quickly became apparent, after listening to the conversations that I was out of my league. These guys were all pros, or almost pro, and there were a bunch of pros from the FWT crashing at the house who were moving in and out of the group... I may as well have brought a tuna fish sandwich to this gun fight.
Anyway, I spent about 4 hours in this holding cell before I went for my interview. I was so tired that I fell asleep even though my nerves were kicking. Dood woke me up and told me it was my turn. I think these posts from TGR sum up my interview after this point:
